I had a fantastic time staying in this area as it provided easy access to a variety of parks and restaurants, including Mei Thai just a short walk away and the beautiful Wannamaker County Park only about 4 km from the hotel, perfect for a leisurely stroll or picnic after a day out in the city; the spacious rooms offered a great place to unwind, and although the stairs could use some safety improvements, the friendly staff made every interaction enjoyable.

i had the worst experience at hawthorn. i checked in late, and everything was dirty. there were unsettling activities in the parking lot and the room was filthy. we found a roach in the room and the staff was unhelpful. i had to cancel my stay and it was a nightmare dealing with customer service. do not stay here, it's terrible.

So, we walked into the room and the first thing I noticed was the ironing facilities - not that I planned on ironing anything, but it's nice to have just in case. The heating was working fine, but the air conditioning was a whole different story. It was like a sauna in there, and not in a good way. And don't even get me started on the tea and coffee facilities. Let's just say, I had to make a run to the closest cafe to get my caffeine fix. The sitting area was decent, nothing too fancy but comfortable enough. There was no in-room sink, which was a bit inconvenient, especially when I wanted to quickly wash my hands. The dining table looked like it had seen better days, with scratches and stains all over. Now, onto the bathroom situation. The bathtub was a nightmare. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in ages, and there were no free toiletries in sight. I had to use my own stash, which was not ideal. One thing that surprised me was the cookware and kitchen utensils. They were actually in pretty good shape, unlike the rest of the room. I managed to whip up a decent meal despite the less-than-ideal conditions. The am/fm alarm clock was a nice touch, but the flat-screen TV was ancient. The picture quality was so bad, it was like watching through a layer of fog. And the parquet floor? Let's just say a good vacuum and mop would have worked wonders. I did appreciate the fact that there were shops and commercial services nearby. It came in handy when I needed to grab a few essentials. the lack of laundry facilities was a major downside. I had to haul my dirty clothes to the nearest laundromat, which was not fun. my stay at the Hawthorn was a mixed bag. There were some good points, like the cookware and sitting area, but the lack of cleanliness and outdated amenities left a lot to be desired. It's safe to say I won't be rushing back anytime soon.
